About
Malika HAMIDI is a Ph D candidate in Sociology at the "École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales" (EHESS), in Paris. Her current research explores “the emergence of a transnational Islamic feminist movement of thought and action in the West”.
A European renowned voice, Malika Hamidi is a respected and regular contributor on topics related to the challenges of the Muslim presence in Europe for the European Institutions in Brussels - taking part in high level meetings with presidents of EU institutions – and is an internationally recognised expert on issues about the European female Muslim identity. She has participated in conferences around the world.
For the past 15 years, Malika Hamidi has been involved and active in various organisations. She heads the Brussels-based think tank European Muslim Network (EMN – www.euro-muslims.eu);
Hamidi is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the 2014 Parliament of the World's Religions. She has a long-standing collaboration with the CIMEF in Africa (www.cimef.com).
Being active both at the academic and grassroots level, Malika Hamidi is part of a surge of women’s leadership toward the changing of Islam and known as a role model on issues related to women in Islam.
Malika Hamidi has been nominated for the European Muslim Women of Influence and the Women Inspiring Europe weekly 2012 Award organized by the European Institution for Gender Equality and supported by the European Commission.
